ABOUT

Using innovative thinking and a mixture of processes Jenny Simmons creates investment fashion with an artisan twist.  Focusing on minimal waste alongside a minimalistic aesthetic to provide versatility and longevity. Inspired by anthropology her work is ever informed by travel and extensive research both historical and contemporary.
Inspired by a series of images Jenny Simmons captured in Vietnam of a small fishing town her most recent project was titled ‘Mundane Repetition’. The images capture streets, homes and workspaces, providing an edited insight of day to day activities. Focus was on small mundane aspects in order to document a true representation of the environment. The photos show a plethora of material and textural information. They highlight interesting forms and compositions created by the routine structures. Pastel washed walls alongside terracotta bricks and raw concrete provided an honest colour pallet.
Repetition was used to reflect routine. Keeping a minimal aesthetic her textiles are tactile and seamlessly designed. ‘Mundane Repetition’s’ ethos is to slow down and notice what may otherwise be overlooked.  To promote a slower lifestyle and appreciation for the smaller things. Her pieces are  ‘investment’ not throwaway in order to combat fast fashion.
